Prayers for leaders of nations
Loving God, we pray for the leaders of nations and peoples. We ask that they will fulfil their duties and obligations with honesty, integrity and with humility.
May they always seek the common good. Guide them to keep the needs of the poor, weak, marginalised, abused, exploited and voiceless at the heart of their thinking, policies and actions. Strengthen them to work tirelessly to ensure everyone has a home which is a place of safety and security. May they ensure no one need be hungry, that medical needs are met swiftly and that children are provided with high quality education. May they seek to create communities where no one is ill-treated as a result of their ethnic background, gender, sexuality, age, or economic worth, and where all have equal access to justice. Help them also, to ensure hygienic and safe working practices so that people can live and work in safety.
In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
Lord Jesus you are King of kings and Lord of lords. We place into your care the leaders of nations.
Guide them to be creative in addressing the needs of people who are hungry, those without access to clean water and sanitation, and those who are fuel poor, May their priority be the well-being of people living in poverty.
We pray also that they promote among their people care for the natural world. May they pursue initiatives which address the climate crisis and enable countries to reduce carbon emissions. May the use of natural resources, such as fish stocks and forests, be monitored and sustainably managed.
Help them also to develop good relationships between one another. May they seek to make the world a place where bitterness and strife, revenge and division between nations no longer exists. May they seek international agreements in trade, education, culture, health and welfare that recognise our interdependence and promote unity. Guide their decision making so that people may live in peace and security.
Open their hearts to find agreement on ways in which, working collaboratively, the world can tackle the global challenges we face.

for nations electing a leader
Loving God you are King of kings and Lord of lords. We ask you guidance for the people of xxxxxx as they elect a President / Prime Minister
We pray that whoever is elected that they will service with honesty, integrity, humility and dignity. We ask that they have compassion for the needy and seek to eliminate all that causes people to have nowhere to call home, and to be food insecure. May they pursue policies that foster good relationships between the different communities across France and across the world, treating all with respect.
Grant the President / Prime Minister wisdom to grasp the complexities of domestic and international issues. May whoever is elected be a force for good in the world and encourage all nations to address the global climate crisis. May they also seek to bring peace to a violent and troubled world.
Loving God we place xxxxx and its people in your hands and pray that your will shall be done. Amen.
for national elections
Almighty and eternal God, you are King of kings and Lord of lords. We place into your hands the election in xxxxx.
We ask that polling will take place peacefully and without intimidation. May people be able to express their views and preferences through the ballot box and all accept the outcome of the elections.
Above all we ask that those elected to positions in the Assembly/Parliament/Senate and appointed to positions as Ministers will perform their duties and responsibilities with honesty, integrity, and humility. May they treat all people with dignity and respect. May the decisions reached by the newly elected Assembly/Parliament/Senate and its members be for the benefit of all the people of xxxxxxx. May there be close and friendly relationships with the other administrations.
Lord, grant your wisdom and guidance to the electorate as people go to the polls, and we pray that your will shall be done.
